Reponse To Intervention: Passion For Compassion Model

Helping Struggling Students Learn

Response to Intervention (RTI) is a new and different approach to learning which focuses on the continuous assessment of students. This program focuses on simple instructional responses to increase the teachers’ repository of successful interventions, many of which are appropriate for Tier I and Tier II levels in the RTI process.

Costs

$1,750 per day per trainer
$1,600 per day for coaching (Four days of coaching throughout the school year should occur)

Delivery System

This program can range from two days to four days depending on the level of RTI implementation at the school. There is also a one day introductory training for those unfamiliar or new to RTI.

Key Components

RTI is a new and different approach to learning that focuses on “simple” instructional responses that increase teachers’ repository of successful interventions. These include:

·         A cognitive map for writing that guarantees a struggling writer can write several perfectly organized paragraphs;
·         The connection between an individual’s orientation in space and his or her success in mathematics;
·         What teachers and students have to know about memory storage and retrieval to ensure academic success, regardless of learning ability;
·         Using What, Why, and How to build cognitive structures for academic mastery; and
·         How to teach anyone how to spell perfectly for the rest of their lives in twenty minutes or less!

Outcomes

RTI is based on researched interventions and instruction. Schools that use these approaches have considerable success. After completing the RTI program, participants will understand:

·         The rationale for an RTI approach;
·         The benefits of RTI for general education;
·         The benefits of RTI for special education; and
·         How to implement a successful RTI approach in their school.

STANDARDS COVERED:
