Positive Intervention for Improving Student Behavior

 

School Discipline: Changing Student Behavior is a widely-used program dealing with disruptive students in the classroom. It focuses on positive and sensible interventions for correcting student behavior, and provides a multitude of processes and procedures that can be used for individual cases and school wide. Much of the research base for this program derives from the fields of education, cognitive psychology, and neuro-lingistic programming.

 

Costs

 

$1,750 per day per trainer
$1,600 per day for coaching, $950 for a half day
$10 per person for course text (may be reduced or waived for members)

 

Delivery System

 

 
School Discipline can be a three day program depending on individual school needs. This program usually requires a coaching component to ensure sustainability and continuous improvement, but it is optional.  

 

Key Components

 

The following key components are included in the training:
·         How to create a positive classroom environment;
·         The skills of effective disciplinarians;
·         How to establish correct discipline procedures at the start of the school year;
·         School-wide interventions;
·         Suggested procedures for dealing with disruptive and deviant behavior;
·         Teaching students with ADD/ADHD;
·         How to establish and deliver successful behavioral interventions; and
·         Complete bibliography and research components.
 

 

Outcomes

 

After receiving training in the School Discipline: Changing Student Behavior program teachers and administrators will:
·         Learn the structure of effective behavioral interventions;
·         Learn how to deal with any kind of student misbehavior;
·         Be able to design an effective intervention plan;
·         Teach with confidence those students with highly impulsive behavior;
·         Solve most school discipline problems through a simple faculty intervention;
·         Be able to establish rapport with any student in less than two minutes;
·         Learn powerful language patterns to stop unwanted behaviors;
·         Duplicate the skills of effective disciplinarians; and
·        Know how to design and carry-out a discipline plan for the first two weeks of school.

STANDARDS COVERED: The design of this program meets the professional standards for teachers and school leaders, as well as 21st Century content and skills.
