ENVISION: Parent University© provides parents an opportunity to sharpen their skills as they work in one of life's most important and demanding pursuits – raising great kids! ENVISION: Parent University© workshops provide parents and caregivers with information about their vital role in shaping children's lives. Sessions focus on child development, effective parenting skills and support for academic success

Parent University is presented in four 3-hour sessions. All sessions are designed with the culture of the school as well as adult learning theory in mind.
Key Components
Parents and or caregivers who participate in ENVISION: Parent University© can expect that:
· This course will be experiential in nature. Participants will be called upon to practice the skill sets presented by instructors, both in large and small groups. Attendance and participation in all classes is of critical importance.
· Exercises will be worked through that will require participants’ self-reflection and deep examination of their own beliefs, values, and identity.
· Participants will be expected to demonstrate mastery of skills through application to specific issues from their own homes.
Outcomes
Parents who participate in this series will:
· Develop good communication skills where both parent and child are listening and talking;
· Become familiar with approaches to parenting that elicit positive results both behaviorally as well as academically;
· Learn several protocols that are instrumental in the development of a child’s organizational skills;
· Expand their knowledge of ways to keep their children safe, both at home and on the way to school;
· Use a personality instrument to determine who they are as parents and who their children are and to use that information to motivate and discipline on an individual level;
· Practice stress management strategies in the context of parenting; and
· Demonstrate the acquired skills in real time.

The design of this program meets the National Parent Teacher Association Standards, including:
- Promotion and support of parenting skills; and
· Active parent participation in student learning.
Every participant will receive handouts, all supporting forms and materials to complete the learning activities. Handouts are available in English and Spanish.
